Awards and Recognitions

Maryland Assistant Principal of the Year (2014)

In October 2013 I was named the NASSP/Virco Maryland Assistant Principal of the Year. This award is given annually to one secondary level assistant principal in Maryland and is faciliated by the Maryland Association of Secondary School Principals. The award allowed me to travel to DC for a week long professional learning forum and visits to Capitol Hill.

Bammy! Award for Outstanding Secondary Principal (Finalist)

In 2015 I was named a national finalist for the Bammy! Award for Outstanding Secondary Principal. This award is nominated and voted upon by educators and is awarded by the Academy of Education Arts and Sciences.

ASCD Emerging Leader
(Class of 2014)

I was honored to be named a 2014 ASCD Emerging Leader. This award recognizes a select group of educational leaders internationally who are making significant differences in their schools and communities. The award provides recipients with the opportunity to collaborate with other Emerging Leaders on projects to benefit ASCD's 175,000 members.

Admin PLN Award for Exemplary Leadership

In 2015 I was named the recipient of the ISTE Administrator PLN Award for Exemplary Leadership. The award was in recognition for my work on creating a digital learning environment within the school as well as my efforts to reach out to other schools to connect and grow.

Educators as Innovators Administrator of the Year

In 2015 I was named the recipient of the Learning Forward Maryland "Educators as Innovators" School Administrator of the Year. The award recognizes a school administrator who reflects the standards of professional learning identified by Learning Forward, and who seeks to create opprtunities for meaningful collaboration, connection, and conversation related to professional growth.

Digital Innovation in Learning Award
(Finalist/Hon Mention)

I was named a Finalist and Honorable Mention for the "Power to the People" Award through DILA. The award recognizes an individual nationally who has successfully led efforts to increase the effectiveness of stakeholders in having a meaningful voice in improving schools.
